Birds attract our attention by their sheer numbers, variety, beauty, and lively behaviour.  If you are curious about birding, the Sunshine Coast is an excellent area to visit. Gibsons Getaways and Sechelt Escapes are happy to announce two weekend guided birding tours this spring.

The Sunshine Coast has a wide variety of habitats, including estuaries and mudflats, rocky shores, woodland ponds, and vast expanses of coniferous forest, both old growth and second growth. The mild winters of Georgia Strait attract a very large number of wintering water birds, and each spring, over 60 species of birds arrive from distant points south, to breed on the Sunshine Coast.

Birding tours will be led by Tony Greenfield, past president of the BC Field Ornithologists, and joint author of the forthcoming  Guide to the Birds of British Columbia.  Tony has been an active proponent of birding on the Sunshine Coast for over 30 years and loves sharing his passion.  Pack your binoculars, camera and walking shoes and get ready to experience Sunshine Coast birding from one of BC's most respected birders in a pristine and diverse habitat, filled with these wonderful and varied flying creatures.
